BANGALORE: A four-and-a-half-year-old ragpicker was attacked by a pack of dogs when he went near a garbage bin at Sarakki Lake near Puttenahalli in J P Nagar on Sunday. Selvam, was attacked by stray dogs, which  have attacked the child around his nose.

Selvam, who resides with his physically-challenged mother in the same locality, had gone for ragpicking around 10 am. As he went there, about 5-6 stray dogs attacked him and bit his nose. A few passersby, who noticed it, pelted stones and rescued the boy. He was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. The residents alleged that the garbage was not cleared regularly, which attracted stray dogs.

“If the Palike authorities had taken measures to clean the garbage, such incidents could be averted,” the residents complained.
