BANGALORE:  Home Minister R Ashok on Sunday stated that the police had arrested a few persons in connection with the murder of Suvarna which was widely claimed to be a ‘honour killing’ incident and occurred in Maddur on the  December 6. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme, he said, “Arrests have been made in this regard. The necessary action will be taken. This is an one off case and must be treated such and not as a honour killing.” He stated that initial headway into the case made by police officials suggested that there were long term differences between the family which might have led to this extreme step.”

The minister also discussed the topic of naxals in the state and said that the government had managed to recover certain documents written in Tamil which showed that hired naxals were using the Karnataka Tamil Nadu border to enter the state.

“The Chief Minister will be meeting top police and other officials tomorrow  along with me in order to discuss further action to be taken,” he said. The meeting is expected to take place in the afternoon, he said.
