BANGALORE: An undertrial, who was taken into custody by Viveknagar police for investigation, escaped on Thursday. However, the police managed to nab him near Hennur Bande on Friday.
Edwin alias Alexander, 23, is the accused. According to the police, Edwin was arrested in connection with a robbery case by Adugodi police last December and was remanded to judicial custody. As he was also allegedly involved in a dacoity case in Viveknagar police station limits, the Viveknagar police obtained body warrant from 10th ACMM Court to take Edwin into custody. On Thursday evening, a team comprising of PSI Nataraja and two constables took him in an auto rickshaw. But, the auto stopped in Madivala as it was out of gas. "The constables along with the accused got down to take another auto. Edwin took advantage of the situation and fled the scene," police said.
However, the same team managed to gather information about Edwin’s movement and arrested him near Hennur Bande on Friday evening. Further investigations are on.
