BANGALORE: A 46-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her stepson and his friend at her residence in Balajinagar 4th Cross in Mico Layout police station limits on Saturday night. Property dispute is said to be the reason for the murder.

The victim has been identified as Rajamma. The assailants slit her throat open with a knife. She was the second wife of Rama Reddy, who had passed away about three years back.

According to the police, Rajamma was living alone in the house, while her daughter Dhanalakshmi along with her husband and children was also living in the vicinity. Rama Reddy’s first wife Jayamma was staying with her four sons in Lakkasandra. They allegedly shared rivalry with Rajamma over property dispute.

They were reportedly forcing the latter to give a share in the house in which she was residing. Jayamma had also asked Rajamma to give Rs 10 lakh, for which the latter had refused, leading to the enmity between them. “On Saturday night, Jayamma’s youngest son Sunil came to Rajamma’s house along with a friend and picked up a quarrel with her over the issue. In a heated argument, Sunil allegedly slit Rajamma’s throat with a knife and fled. Rajamma’s six-year-old grand daughter Ashwini was at home and she witnessed the incident,” the police explained.

The victim’s daughter Dhanalakshmi has filed a murder case against Jayamma, her sons, Lokesh, Gurumurthy, Ramesh and Sunil, who are absconding. The Mico Layout police have registered a case and have launched a man hunt to nab the accused.
