BANGALORE: The High Court on Wednesday issued notice to Fortis Hospital in connection with the death of a patient due to alleged negligence of its doctors on May 6, 2010.

Hearing a petition filed by Major (Retd) Pankaj Rai, whose wife Seema Rai who was admitted for Kidney transplantation had died due alleged negligence of doctors, the division bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna issued notice to Fortis Hospital situated on Bannerghatta Road after Lokayukta, in its report, indicted the hospital for its negligence. Following her death, the petitioner  complained that the hospital had transplanted liver and pancreas simultaneously. It did not have licence for transplantation of pancreas but had it only for liver, he had complained.

The court which heard the matter issued notice to Fortis Hospital and adjourned the matter to February 8.
