BANGALORE: Unidentified miscreants broke into the house of former Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj Patil in Sadashivanagar seventh main and escaped with silver ornaments worth around Rs 3 lakh on Friday night.

According to the police, the incident took place when Patil and his family members were sleeping. The miscreants gained entry into the house by breaking open its backdoor and escaped with silver idols of deities and other silver ornaments that were kept in the puja room. Around three kilograms of silver items have been stolen.

“Though there is a security guard in the front door of the gate, the miscreants have managed to break into the house. There is some vacant space behind the house and the miscreants have taken advantage of it,” the police added. Patil’s daughter-in-law Meena has filed a case with Sadashivanagar police in connection with the incident.
