Duo attempts suicide, one dies

BANGALORE: An Assamese brother duo,  who was looking for jobs, tried to commit suicide after not finding jobs. The elder brother died in the incident, while the younger of the two survive

BANGALORE: An Assamese brother duo,  who was looking for jobs, tried to commit suicide after not finding jobs. The elder brother died in the incident, while the younger of the two survived.

The deceased has been identified as Santhanu Setia, 28, and his brother Indusan Setia, 24, is hospitalised. The duo had a diploma in Agricultural Science and they had an interview with a private company on January 24. The incident was reported at the Railway Store area in Binny Mill. According to the police, the duo had come to the city on last Thursday and had booked a lodge in Cottonpet. Allegedly, they had spent all their money and were depressed over not finding a job. On Saturday night they went near the Railway Store area, where they reportedly cut their veins. Later, Santhanu hanged himself to a nearby tree and died. However, some passersby noticed Indusan lying there and informed the police.

In another incident, a youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his friends near his house at Pantharapalya slum in Nayandahalli on Mysore Road on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Rajesh, 22. He was arrested in connection with a pick pocket case and was released about ten days ago, the police said.
