BANGALORE: Members of Karnataka Race Horse Workers Welfare Association have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from January 26 in support of their demands put forth before the Turf Clubs of Bangalore and Mysore.

Speaking to Express, H B Anandaiah of the Association said that there are more than 1,500 employees working in Bangalore and Mysore Turf Clubs. “The Turf Clubs do not treat us as their employees. We do all kinds of work - right from cleaning horses and feeding. But we are denied facilities like PF and ESI,” he said.

Anandaiah said many of the workers die and get injured during work. “We do not have proper medical facilities. The employees get a salary of `4,800 to `8,000 per month which is not sufficient to lead life in a city. All of us are going for an indefinite strike from January 26  till our demands are met,” he said.
