Upendra in an all new avatar

Namma Upendra alias Uppi, who is known for his punchy dialogues, is set to appear on the silver screen in a new avatar. For the first time, Upendra is playing a police

officer role in film Arakshaka.

It was said that Upendra’s character has two different shades in this film and Ragini Dwivedi plays the role of a psychiatrist. P Vasu, who handled megaphone for films like Aapthamithra and Aaptharkshaka, is the director for this film.

Expressing happiness for acting under the direction of P Vasu for the first time, Upendra said that all the credit for success or failure of this film must go to the director. “I am happy to get a positive feedback for Aarakshaka from my father. He rarely appreciates my films. He still says that he could not understand my debut film A and keeps asking me how it became a huge success at the box office,’’ says Upendra with a smile. Appreciating Ragini for acting well in Aarakshaka, Upendra said that usually introduction songs are meant for heroes but in Aarakshaka, the heroine is introduced with a song sequence. “Ragini is very lucky to get such an opportunity. She is a very good actress and definitely has a bright future,’’ said Upendra. Thanking Gurukiran for providing melodious tunes for Aarakshaka, Upendra said, “I am grateful to music director Gurukiran who has been helping me for the last 14 years. Both of us made our debut in Sandalwood with A. I became an actor while Gurukiran graduated as a music director’’.

Gurukiran had worked as music director for Upendra’s films such as Upendra, Kutumba and Gokarna. Gurukiran claimed that it was Upendra who brought him to Sandalwood. “I would have ended up as a businessman rather than music director,’’ said Gurukiran. Ragini said that she was very lucky to get an opportunity to act with Upendra. “I am eagerly waiting for the release of Aarakshaka. This film is extremely special,’’ said Ragini.
