BANGALORE: “Constitution is the greatest hope of all. Democracy has to be protected otherwise chaos will reign” observed Dr K Rahman Khan, deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha.
Speaking at a national symposium on ‘Religious Minorities: Issues and Challenges in India’ here on Wednesday, he said efforts are being made to dilute ‘Communal Violence Act’. “Strict laws has to be enacted against those who create communal violence,” Rahman Khan said.
Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes said “The biggest challenge is how do we maintain secularism? There is a constant effort to disturb the sense of oneness of the minorities. Democracy has to be maintained, cherished and strengthened by all in the country.”
