BANGALORE: The Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) for Medical and Dental courses for the year 2012 in the state will be held on January 29 from 10 am to 1 pm by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in eight centres in the city.
As a security measure to avoid the large-scale malpractices that were allegedly witnessed last year in Bellary, the PGET exam this year will be streamed live over the web, which will be monitored by supervisors at RGUHS. “All exam centres have been equipped with CCTVs, which will stream the proceedings of the exam live.” said Dr Sriprakash K S, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS.
One chief superintendent has been appointed for each centre, one deputy superintendent for every 250 candidates, one room superintendent for every four blocks. “I have even requested the Commissioner of Police for deployment of police personnel at each exam centre,” said Dr Sriprakash.
Owing to the experiences of last year’s exam, it was decided that the entrance test would be conducted only in Bangalore. “To minimize human error, the entire process, from registrations to issue of applications for the test was made online. Also, to avoid impersonations, biometrics will be used to identify the candidates during the test, and at the time of counseling. Every exam desk will have a student’s registration number and photograph,” he added.
