BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has said that the government would take action against those who took law into hands and attacked media persons on Friday.

“The government will bear the expenses for the treatment of all those who are injured. Section 144 has been clamped around the City Civil Court complex. At present the situation is calm and under control,” the Chief Minister added.

Refusing to disclose the contents of the preliminary enquiry conducted by State Government’s Chief Secretary S V Ranganath into the incident, Gowda said the Chief Secretary’s report will be placed before the judicial commission.

“The police have acted appropriately, in time. They had to exercise restraint and be cautious while dispersing the crowd as there were a lot of common people. I don’t think there is any police lapse because as many as ten police personnel were hurt in the incident, which shows that the police were very much in action,” the CM explained. He, however, assured of strict action against those police personnel who were found to be lax in their duty.
