BANGALORE: For the next 50 weeks, slum dwellers from the state will be given a platform to showcase their talent in the city as the Samruddhi Educational and Cultural Trust will provide them with a place to perform.

At the inaugural function held at Freedom Park on Sunday, Chairman of the Trust, Madan Patel said, “There are 2700 slums in the state, all of the people living in them have a dream.

We give them recognition and a stage.” He said, the BBMP had given them a discount of 50 per cent on the cost of hiring the Freedom Park auditorium.

Sunday saw participation by around 30 slum dwellers who took part in various activities like singing and dancing.

The participants were from slums located in Govindrajnagar and Malleshwaram.

BJP MP, P C Mohan, urged the participants to spread the word.

“Although only two areas have been covered, you can inform the others.

News will spread and we will have more participants , ” he added.
