BANGALORE: A 20-year-old BE student drowned in Agara Lake near Talaghattapura, during Holi celebrations on Thursday. The deceased Ankith Nayak, had gone to wash his face after playing Holi with friends, when the incident took place.
Police said Ankith was a first semester Engineering student at BMS College near Basavanagudi. According to police, it was also Ankith’s birthday on Thursday, so he and his friends had planned to celebrate his birthday along with playing Holi near the tank bund.
They had attended the morning classes before going to the lake. Sources said Ankith accidentally fell into the lake and asked for help, but his friends were afraid to help him and waited for police and fire brigade personnel. By the time fire personnel rushed to the spot, he had drowned.
