BANGALORE: In an effort to search for information for bridging the knowledge gap, people find themselves dispersed in different city libraries and one such library is the City Central library at RT Nagar main road. Ranging from lack of toilet facilities to proper drinking water facilities are the main problems confronting this library.

The toilets are in a poor condition and appeared  not to have been used for a long time. A library which is fully packed by people, both young and old, one wonders where do they go to ease themselves. Muhammed Afeez who has been using the library facility for the past 10 years said, “there are no toilets.”

The library shelves are filled with books covering all subjects. Titto, a reader,  suggested, “More international journals should be stocked.”  As far as fire emergency equipment are concerned, only two small fire extinguishers have been installed which did not seem sufficient for a library flooded with books and newspapers.

Summer comes with dehydration and people crave for water every now and then. The library has drinking water facilities but it is not well maintained, then one might question the quality of the water itself. When asked what the management should do to improve, Muhammed Afeez strongly said, “the sanitation facilities, rest rooms and drinking water in particular should be maintained well.”

Apart from these few glitches, the library has enough parking space and most people are satisfied with the services. Even though located on the main road, people are not affected by the traffic noise because of the glass facade. The library hosts a large number of people and the space inside accommodates everyone comfortably. Sadiq, a college student has been using the library for five years and confirms the good services provided by the management which was also highlighted by most of the users.
