BANGALORE: In a move to become economically conscious citizens, over 300 students from 20 MBA colleges of Bangalore brought interesting points on the table at a pre-budget session.

Discussing the impact of the last Union Budget, students at the symposium spoke about the ways in which various sectors of the country’s economy function.

Inaugurating the Budget Xpress 2012, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Department Sibichen Mathew threw light on why students need to understand how funds coming in through taxes are utilized in the functioning of the country. “Budget is an important theme for any manager to understand how the country functions,” he said.

Further reiterating that it is important for all citizens to pay taxes as it is utilized in the betterment of the country, he said, “India is one of the countries where taxes are not used as an economic instrument. It is crucial for people to pay taxes regularly.”

Academicians and experts from taxation, service sector, manufacturing, retail and infrastructure fields also addressed the students.
