BANGALORE: Two units of Narayana Nethralaya Super Specialty Eye Hospital have been accredited by the National Accredited Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), New Delhi.

Announcing this here recently, Dr  Bhujang Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director, Narayana Nethrayala said, “The patients are the biggest beneficiaries of this rare recognition as it ensures high quality of care and patient safety.  Both the units of Narayana Nethralaya -Rajajinagar and Bommasandra - have received the prestigious accreditation from NABH.”

“This accreditation is designed in compliance with the international standards,” Dr Giridhar J Gyani, CEO of NABH said.

Former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde and Prof  Venkatesh Thuppil, Principal Advisor, Quality Council of India, presented the certificate to the Narayana Nethralaya management.

NABH and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) will soon sign an MOU to accredit medical and patient-centric care and will ensure that students coming out of medical colleges possess a specific standard set by RGUHS and QCI.

“This will be the first university in the country to have this tie up. The university has already communicated to all hospitals with medical colleges to strive for NABH accreditation,” Dr Gyani said.
