‘Dr Shastri’s works well researched’

BANGALORE:  On the occasion of the 60th birth anniversary of Dr Shesha Shastri, renowned scholar in Kannada and Cultural history of Karnataka, a seminar ‘Shesha Shastri-Baduku and Baraha’ was held here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Devarakonda Reddy of Karnataka Ithihasa Academy said, “Dr Shasthri carried out extensive research on Kannada inscriptions on Hero-stones (Veeragallu) and wrote a book on the research findings.”

Also speaking on the occasion, K R Ganesh said, “One of the best qualities of Shesha is that he never wrote anything without research and cross checked everything. He taught Kannada inscriptions to the Telugu students in a distinguished manner, when he was a professor at Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh.”

He added, “The English version of Veeragallu is ready and will be published shortly. Some sentences, are yet to be translated to English. So the printing has been stalled to avoid any errors.”
