Fun Squared, an event management venture run by two women entrepreneurs, Shobana Vijay Anand and Sudha Gururaj, conducted ‘Spread Your Wings’, an annual show for women on March 11 at Anna Nagar Ladies Club to mark International Women’s Day.
Women in the age group 16 to 60 years took active part in the event which had the theme ‘Childhood Play’. The participants were taken on a nostalgic journey to the time when they played traditional childhood games such as paramapadam, paandi, pallanguzhi, kabaddi and many more. The participants were divided into different teams named after woman achievers from different fields. They fought like the ‘Rani of Jhansi’ while pulling and pushing each other in a tug of war. They showed valour and courage like ‘Kiran Bedi’ and ‘P T Usha’ during a friendly kabaddi match. They also displayed their singing and dancing talents.
The teams were awarded childhood treats like thaenmittai, injimaraappa and kamarkattu. The other attractions were the stalls by woman entrepreneurs, such as the quilling stall, food stall by young college students, jewellery and jute stall.
The moms at the event played and had fun while their little ones were kept occupied with a quilling workshop held at the venue. VLCC Slimming and Beauty Clinic conducted a ‘Miss Fit’ contest and gave away prizes and gift vouchers to all participants.
