BANGALORE:  A first-year Architecture student of R V College of Engineering, who was heading to college along with her friends in a car, died on the spot, when the car met with an accident on NICE Road on Thurday morning.

The deceased has been identified Sushmita Patil, daugther of Rajendra and Sudha Patil. She also happens to be a grand daughter of former MP and Davangere MLA Shamnur Shivashankarappa. Sushmita was going to the college in a car with three of her classmates. Her friend, Akhil was driving the car. On their way, the car ran over sand and stones on the NICE Road, near Andrahalli at about 9 am and due to the impact, one of the tyres exploded. The car turned turtle, the police said.

Sushmita succumbed to injuries and died on the spot while three others-Akhil, Namratha, Anirudh - escaped with minor injuries. Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case.
