BANGALORE:  The Lokayukta police raided the house of Shantakumari, Councillor of Moodalapalya ward (BBMP ward no 127), on Friday and seized documents and valuables worth over Rs 1.29 crore for amassing wealth disproportionate to known sources of income.

Based on a private complaint by Jayarama  M of Mallathahalli, Bangalore, the Hon’ble Upa Lokayukta has ordered for investigation of the complaint and referred the same to the police wing last December. On December 17, 2011, a case of amassing wealth disproportionate to the known source of income was registered under u/s13(1)e and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act. Subsequently search was conducted on Friday at Shanatakumari’s and her close relatives Gopal’s and Mohan’s house in Nagarbhavi.

The investigation carried on under H N Sathyanarayana Rao, additional DGP, Karnataka Lokayukta Bangalore, found immovable properties in Nagasrbhavi, Yeshwanthpur, Nagamangala and Doddabalapur worth Rs 78 lakh, 750 grams gold worth Rs 17 lakh, 17 passbooks of bank accounts,  2 two-wheeler and a car.According to police, investigation is on.
