BANGALORE: “Theatre artistes should indulge in direct communication instead of depending on media to grab attention,” opined noted theatre director Prasanna. Addressing the theatre group Samudaya on Sunday, he presented a lecture on the need for active participation in the field.

“Theatre is a medium of communication between the director and artistes especially during rehearsals. Thinking beyond garnering critical reviews, awards and recognition, is the focus of theatre. But today, dynamics have changed. Artistes communicate indirectly through the media, instead of getting involved with their community or even the common man,” he said.

Focusing on how the old form of theatre needs to be revamped, he said, “Drama is a revolution, but today nothing is happening in the field. Some artistes have claimed that I haven’t done enough theatre myself.  The fact is that I have been involved in theatre work continuously,” he argued. Inspiring the theatre group, he said that a movement in the field of theatre would bring a new age revolution.
