BANGALORE: BWSSB Minister S Suresh Kumar was hopeful that the chief minister will release a special grant of Rs 100 crore in the state Budget to solve water woes in the city.

Recently, residents of several localities had staged protests against the increasing water miseries in the city. However, upon bringing this to the CM’s notice last month, he had assured BWSSB would get special grants.

“We do not depend on budgetary support, but have requested for a special grant that would help in solving  the problems till the fourth stage of the Cauvery Phase II project is completed. The chief minister assured that the special grants would be sanctioned and we are hopeful this would solve the water woes,”  the BWSSB minister said.

He added that BWSSB would sink new borewells reconstruct the old ones.

Around 30 areas in the city are reeling under water shortage. Reportedly, they are receiving the water supply on alternate days.
