BANGALORE: In order to get their voices heard, theatre artistes will stage a protest on March 20 at 11.30 am at the Ravindra Kalakshetra in the city.

The protest is supported by the Kannada Vedika and held under the guidance of former minister, Prabhakar Reddy.

Speaking to the press, Kala Bhairava Gangadhar, President of Karnataka Rajya Ranga Kalavidhara Ookuta said, “It is very difficult to survive with mere `1,000 as salary. We demand that the salary be hiked to `5,000 per month. Also, a colony should be allotted to theatre artistes under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme.”

“Free education should be given to the children of the theatre artistes so that they secure jobs. Also, free medical care should be provided with insurance,” he added.
