BANGALORE: In the recently held inaugural function of Chikkabandappa B Ramaiah Stadium near J P Garden in Raja Rajeshwarinagar (BBMP ward no. 17), corporator Nanjundappa said that the purified water would be used to maintain parks and other purposes as well. “By setting up a water purification unit, the underground water levels would also increase helping the people residing in the area,” he said. BBMP Deputy Mayor S Harish said that the stadium was built at a cost of Rs 2 crore and and is named after freedom fighter Chikkabandappa B Ramaiah. Meanwhile, 103 women who are trained in tailoring  were given Rs 3,000 worth cheques, iron box to six people, cycles to ten people, Rs 20,000 worth cheques to 11 Sthree Shakti organisations were given under the BBMP’s welfare programme. Around 15 people were given Indica cars under the self-employment programme and Vajapayee Arogyasree Cards were also distributed in the event.
