BANGALORE: Veteran journalist and editor of Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily E Raghavan died of a massive cardiac arrest here on Saturday. He was 61. An incisive political analyst with keen acumen for anything that was news, Raghavan started his journalistic career with Indian Express in 1971 as Mysore district correspondent.

He was also the Chief of the Bureau of the Indian Express in Bangalore, before moving to The Times Group in 1984.A stickler for rules and scrupulous in his thoughts and deeds, Raghavan left nothing to chance.

His colleagues remembered that he always insisted on checking and verifying the facts thoroughly before filing the report.

Raghavan took over as the Editor of Vijaya Karnataka in 2009. Soft-spoken, mild-mannered and modest, Raghavan groomed many young journalists in his career spanning over four decades. He was also the recipient of Media Academy Award.
