BANGALORE: Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Bangalore) Mohan Kumar who is alleged to have violated the excise rules was granted bail by the Lokayukta Court on Monday.

Mohan Kumar was remanded in custody on March 23.

Judge of Lokayukta Special Court Justice N K Sudhindra Rao directed Lokayukta police to probe the claims made by Mohan Kumar that 16 bottles of foreign liquor seized during a recent raid were meant for Excise Minister M P Renukacharya, and submit a report before March 31.

The Lokayukta police had raided the office of Mohankumar, Deputy Commissioner of Excise on J C Road on Thursday and recovered a cash of Rs 27,700 and 16 foreign whiskey bottles.

They had also arrested him in connection with the raid.
