BANGALORE:  The excessive heat this year forced Bangaloreans indoors for several weeks, but now it is time to break free as the MET Department has announced some good news.

Bangalore can expect pre-monsoon thunderstorms starting April and interestingly, citizens too have reacted well to the news. While March began with the hottest day of the year so far, recording 37.3 degree celsius, the last week of this month has left Bangalore scorched. Except the cyclonic showers in October and a few drizzles late in February, no good news came through the month for the city that boasts of its great weather.

“The normal temperature in March is supposed to be 34 degree celsius. Each year, March, April and May are supposed to be pre-monsoon season. This year, Bangalore can expect some thundershowers early in April,” said a MET Department official.

“Bangalore weather was a major puller for many people in the city and this year has been horrid. Mounting water woes did not help matters either. We are happy to hear that it will get cooler in April,” said K Srikanth, a techie.

The city attracts allot tourists from across the world during the summer season. This year, even that has decreased by 10 per cent. “Bangalore records the third highest tourism inflow in March-April. Until now, the city has not got healthy tourism. We are expecting that it will pick up in April. But that will happen if the weather becomes better,” said a source within the department.
