Will look into Russell Market issue: Goel

Traders at Russell Market were assured of all assistance by the BBMP Commissioner Rajneesh Goel. The Commissioner visited the market to take stock of the garbage situation.

Speaking to Express, he said, “I am surprised that there is no power and water. This place is of historical importance and it should be protected. I will call the officials and go through the files pertaining to this market.”

When asked about demolition of the structure, he said, “I have to see what they have recorded in previous Council meetings and will talk to Mayor in this regard.”

Russell Markets Traders Association General Secretary Mohammed Idrees Choudry said, “We are sick of approaching officials and elected representatives as they have let us down. The commissioner’s assurance has rekindled our hopes.”
