Tribute to B V Karanth

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of theatre artiste B V Karanth, Prathima Rana Sanshodana Prathishthana in association with theatre groups from Bangalore will organise a one-day ceremony on October 9 at Samsa Open Air theatre at 6.30 pm and a three-day Karanth theatre festival at Ravindra Kalakshetra from October 10 to 12 at 6.30 pm.

On October 9, the festival will be inaugurated by noted theatre artiste B Jayashree. The festival will be chaired by playwright and critic K Marulasiddappa. This will be followed by rendition of theatre songs by Kalpana Naganath and group, Shailashree and group, and Prakash Shetty and group. On October 10, prior to the play Sattavara Neralu by Benaka, actor and director C R. Simha will share his experiences with Karanth. On October 11, theatre persons M V Narayana Rao and B. Suresh will speak on Karanth’s work. This will be followed by Rang-ayana’s presentation of Sriranga’s Kattale Belaku and Kuvempu’s Chandrahasa. On October 12, the valedictory function will have dignitaries like Hunasavadi Rajan, editor of a popular Kannada newspaper, B V  Rajaram, director of Rangayana and Suresh Anagalli, director of NSD-RRC. Late B V Karanth, was a legendary figure who brought fresh ideas to modern theatre.
