BESCOM MD P Manivannan on Tuesday stressed the need for the public utility company to increase its level of customer satisfaction by reaching out to the consumers.
He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day workshop on ‘Electricity laws related to consumers’ organised by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
BESCOM will complete the process of installing meters on transformers to be able to better calculate losses. KERC had set a target for BESCOM to reduce losses using High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) and smart meters.
“There is technical loss, theft and commercial losses.Energy flow must be monitored at feeder level, transformer level and consumer level. Tenders have been finalised for 80,000 meters to be installed in transformers,” he said. BESCOM has approached KERC for a pilot project on smart metering in a few divisions.
