Woman forced for 6th marriage, kills dad

A man, who allegedly forced his daughter to marry for the sixth time, in a bid to make easy money was killed by her.

According to the police, Balaraju, 51, a driver, was strangled by his 21-year-old daughter Asha Rani alias Mamatha, a resident of Garebhavipalya and three others on October 2. The body was thrown into the Iggalur Lake.

On October 5, the body was found and  the accused were arrested on Wednesday.

According to police, Balaraju used to get Asha married to different people and extract money from her in-laws by threatening to lodge dowry harassment cases.

He wanted to marry her off for the sixth time. However, Rani who was in love with her neighbour Nagaraju protested that move. When Balaraju continued to force her, she decided to kill him.

Asha Rani, with the help of three others—her step-brother Murali, 23, brother-in-law Shivakumar, 23 and her friend Madhu, 24,  —strangled him to death and threw his body into the lake.

Earlier, Rani had tried to kill him by giving alcohol laced with poison. However, he had survived.

Balaraju had reportedly married thrice and Rani is the daughter of his second wife.

The Hebbagodi police have registered a case in this connection.
