20 lakh stolen from retired SP’s house

A gang of unidentified miscreants barged  into a retired SP’s house and made away with Rs 20 lakh in cash and other valuables at RPC Layout in Vijayanagar police station limits on Friday midnight.

According to the police,the miscreants broke open the back door of the house which belongs to a retired SP Parameshwarappa. He, along with his family, had gone abroad a few days ago.

His elder son, who was in house, also went to Goa a two days ago. The incident came to light when the security guard, who was sleeping in a shed, noticed the broken back door, the police said.

Cop Killed

A 52-year-old head constable attached to Parappana Agrahara police station was killed and his colleague sustained severe injuries when a speeding Tata Sumo rammed into their two-wheeler near Konappana Agrahara.

The constable, Kodandaram, was a resident of Banashankari. The injured Nagabhushan was shifted to a private hospital.
