These are all ‘waking dreams’. Though we are not asleep, we are dreaming. This kind of visualisation is cleansing us by emptying our subconscious mind of its stored memories and experiences which are unnecessarily occupying our mental space and triggering our karma. If there are some unpleasant or fearful visions, they indicate that some negative karmic residues that were still present somewhere in our subconscious are now being thrown out. We should not allow ourselves to react to any of these visions. What is equally important is we should not try to block or cut off any vision because we think it is fearful, shameful or uncouth. If we block them, these poisonous toxins will remain inside us instead of being flushed out.
Remember, just as we emptied our loft, attic or basement and stopped dumping any more things there, we are emptying our subconscious and removing all its contents. When it is completely empty we will be free from the shackles of our karma forever. As we meditate every day, we get used to being detached spectators and allowing all these visions to pass without judging, analyzing or participating in them.
If we find it difficult to maintain this detachment at any point of time, we should chant ‘Om’ softly for a while as we meditate. This re-connects us to our Soul and re-establishes us in a state complete detachment.
When we access the super conscious, we have three kinds of visions — connecting visions, activating visions and motivating visions. Connecting visions connect us to our own Soul or to the super conscious realms where divine beings abide. In such visions, we catch glimpses of enlightened beings in the super conscious realms or experience the healing light and energy of our own soul. For example, as you are meditating, you may see yourself walking into a bright, shimmering shrine made only from light. You see wonderful luminous beings inside who have ‘bodies’ of beautiful pulsating light. As you move around, you find that you are floating instead of walking and when you look at yourself you find that you too have a ‘body’ of radiant light. The wonderful colours and hues in the light around you are simply fascinating and enthralling. Suddenly you find another being of light floating beside you and guiding you to a radiant pavilion where many beings are sitting in a circle waiting for you. They ask you to sit in the centre of the circle and initiate you into a chant. As this is happening, you realise that in this realm of light all the beings are communing with you internally without using speech or any form of physical sound that you are used to. Even the initiation of the chant was given to you in this way.
As you sit there, you experience the benevolence of all the beings in the circle flowing to you and filling you with indescribable peace and bliss. The being who escorted you to the pavilion now guides you out and you find yourself floating and gliding downwards and become aware of yourself sitting in meditation in your own house. This vision fills you with bliss that lasts for days and you find that your mind is almost free from thoughts during this period.
