A 22-year-old woman was killed and her friend severely injured when a speeding Canter truck rammed into the two-wheeler they were riding at Dairy Circle on Peenya Main Road on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Vijayalakshmi and the injured Prakash, 28, both residents of Hegganahalli.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 10 pm when they were returning home after shopping.
Vijayalakshmi, who was riding pillion, died on the spot.
Prakash sustained serious injures and was shifted to NIMHANS. His condition is said to be critical, the police said.
It is said that Canter truck driver Jagadeesh was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred, and some passers-by who witnessed the accident chased his vehicle in some vehicles and nabbed him.
The Peenya Traffic Police have registered a case.
