The High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to submit a action taken report on serial rape and gang-rape cases following a public interest litigation petition on seeking to stop the political interference in various rape cases.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna passed the order on a petition filed by M K Vijaya Kumar, an advocate.
Earlier, During the hearing, he said eight rape and gang-rape cases were repored in a week and seven of them were registered in Bangalore alone. The petitioner sought directions to government that police officers should not be influenced by politicians while carrying out investigations of rape/gang- rape as it affects the fundamental right of the victims.
