Centenarian lexicographer Prof G Venkatasubbaiah recalled the virtues of a model teacher while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Teachers’ Day at UVCE.
“A teacher is one who doesn’t bother about the background of his students and perceives them equally. A teacher must be able to put across concepts to even the dullest of students. He or she should practise the values he teaches his students and should stand by them in every walk of life,” Prof Venkatasubbaiah said.
He called upon teachers to teach the essence of Kannada to children for its betterment.
A former student of Prof G Venkatasubbaiah, V Nagaraj recollected that his teacher was a humble person and would make any lesson lifelike .
He said, “Prof Vekatasubbaiah taught values along with subjects. He has been away from fame and worked for the betterment of Kannada language and literature.”
