Bangalore International Airport and all airlines operating from there will soon make announcements in Kannada, besides English and Hindi. This follows a direction from the Kannada Development Authority (KDA).
“We have directed BIA to ensure that all announcements, including flight information, be made in Kannada. Kannada should also be part of passenger information boards in the airport,” KDA chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru told reporters on Friday.
According to BIA, airport announcements and those by airlines like Indigo are made in Kannada too.
“All airlines will be asked to follow suit,” an official said. In Mumbai and Chennai, announcements are made in the local languages too.
