Sakala for garbage clearance?

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning to bring clearing of garbage under Sakala, a programme launched by the state government recently.

Once this move is initiated garbage from any locality has to be cleared within 24 hours.

Speaking at the oneday workshop organised by Urban Development Department for the Commissioners of various City and municipal corporation in Bangalore on Tuesday, Shalini Rajneesh, Principal Secretary, Department of personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) said that BBMP has approached them to include solid waste management and sanitation under Sakaala.

“If it comes into effect, garbage must be cleared within 24 hours,” she added. Further, Shalini urged Commissioners of other urban local bodies to adopt the same in their respective towns and cities.
