Vets to stay away from census

About 2,000 doctors and staff of the Department of Animal Husbandry have decided to boycott the livestock census to be conducted by the state government from September 15 to October 15 urging the State government to fulfil their demands.

They are demanding the implementation of the recommendations of a high power committee on the structure of the department.

Speaking to Express, Shivasharanappa Yelagod, general secretary of the Karnataka Veterinary Association, said they would boycott even the regular meetings convened by district commissioners and Directors of their department.

“We have resolved not to furnish any records to the government until the recommendations are implemented,” he stated.

“During B S Yeddyurappa’s Government, a high power committee was constituted for the reorganisation of the Department of Animal Husbandry. We are just requesting the government to implement the committee’s recommendations,” he said.
