Bookworms can soon rejoice as Bangalore will now have its very own literature festival where they will be interact with their favourite authors in the month of December.

At a press conference announcing the festival, Vikram Sampath, Shashi Deshpande and Shinie Antony stressed on the importance. The festival will be held at the Jayamahal Palace from December 7 to 9.

Bangalore Literature Festival will have over fifty renowned writers including Ruskin Bond, Chetan Bhagat, Javed Akthar, Manu Joseph and Shashi Tharoor.

Writer Shashi Deshpande wished for the event to be the next Jaipur literature festival.

Apart from workshops and interactive sessions, there will be panel discussions on various genres ranging from writing on India and future of publishing. Kannada literature will also be promoted along other art forms from the state.

Vikram Sampath, one of the founders of BLF, said that classical art forms and the culture of Karnataka will also be promoted through various programmes Eminent writers including Bhanu Mushtaq, U R Ananthamuthy, Shehan Karunatilaka, Chandrashekahara Kambara, Gulzar and many others will also be present at the event.
