The Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP) on Thursday announced the launch of their unique social initiative — a Mega Blood Donation Drive to promote blood donation and awareness for the greater benefit of the society.
The Mega Blood Donation Drive will be held on September 17 throughout India in over 500 centres in various locations and the target is to collect more than 1,00,000 units of blood in a single day.
This drive is being organised by the ABTYP, Bangalore. More than 20 locations in Bangalore alone have been earmarked for this event.
During the press meet the ABTYP team, along with representative Sanjay Dhariwal briefed the media about the Mega Blood Donation Drive.
Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi and youngest director Master Kishan were present, pledging their active participation. Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is supporting the drive, urging the public to come forward and donate.
Chief Medical officer of Red Cross Society, Dr. Rajshekher speaking about the Mega event, said, “On September 17 we will create history with our multi city multi-location Mega Blood Donation Drive through dedicated participation of people. We are targeting more than 1,00,000 units of blood collection and we are going to create a world record. The thought of this will be a great motivation for those who step forward to donate blood. In the human body, blood makes up 7 per cent of the body weight. There is absolutely no harm in donating up to 20 per cent of your blood. And to save four lives, you have to donate less than 8 per cent!”
Ragini, who was present at the event, said, “I am honored to be a part of this humanitarian cause. This is a great opportunity for everyone who donates blood to be a part of a very noble drive. Imagine how miraculous it would be to save millions of lives and enjoy tremendous inner satisfaction!”
