Federations welcome GO Seva Commission

The ‘Cow Progeny Protection Force’ and ‘Federation of Organisations to Make Karnataka Free from Cow and Cattle Slaughter’ have welcomed the state government’s decision to constitute a Go Seva Commission. It will be constituted  under the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Convener of the federation Dayananda Swami called upon the government to extend the period for filing suggestions or objections. “We welcome this move of the state government. However, there is very little awareness among people about this. We want the state government to extend the last date from September 20 to another 10 or 15 days,” he said.

The federation has put forward 10 suggestions to the state government, which include constitution of a high-level advisory committee. “The commission has to be guided by veteran intellectuals and judicial luminaries. Also, the Commission has to be non-partisan and apolitical,” Dayanand said.

Other suggestions include that the commission has to provide basic facilities to any new animal shelters.
