3 men try to rape minor girl

Three men allegedly attempted to rape a 11-year-old girl at Weavers Colony in Anekal town on Wednesday evening.

The police have detained one person in this connection while the otehr two have escaped.  Mani, a private bus cleaner, of Hoskote is the man in police custody.

According to the police, the incident took place when the girl was walking alone to watch a play being staged as part of Ganesh festival programme. The three accused were consuming alcohol at that time. They took her to a nearby field and tried to gang rape her. As she became unconscious, they panicked and were carrying the girl to throw her at a nearby lake. They tried to escape from the scene when some passersby stopped them. However, the public nabbed Mani.

The girl has been admitted to Anekal hospital. The police have not yet registered any case so far.
