Invite god to your house

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said, “Ultimately, that is what is needed. When you are facing a challenging situation, pray to the Divine Mother and your Guru. I know that all of you are already aware of these two secrets and you are doing this. But there is a third secret that none of you are practicing. Inculcate my happiness into your lives. Even if you’re facing the most trying situation, be happy. Do you think that gurus don’t have any problems? In fact they have to tackle a huge mountainous heap of them because everybody’s problems are theirs. But in spite of that, we are always blissful and happy. So don’t take God or your Guru for granted. That amounts to arrogance and over-confidence. But take this happiness for granted. Tell yourself -“Like my Guru, I’m going to be happy all the time.

Vasudha asked - “Why is it that our devotion does not bear fruit? Why can’t we see God like you do?”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji laughed and said, “I want each one of you to see the divine mother as I feel and see all the time. As all of you know, Adiparashakthi, the divine mother manifests Herself in an infinite number of forms in order to gladden the hearts of devotees. She says, “If you have ardent devotion, you can take Me and all My thirty three hundred thousand million (33,000 crore) forms.”

Tell me how many of us have such ardent devotion. With most of us, devotion is transactional. We go to God with a long list of desires. When we want something we pray intensely. When a wish is granted, we enthuse over God. But our devotion soon cools down and becomes luke warm. Even our relationships with other human beings are not consistent. Let us say for instance, that your son is in a hostel somewhere outside Bangalore. When he visits you during his vacation, you pamper him for the first few days. You make all his favourite dishes and gratify his every wish. However after the first week, you get more used to having him at home and stop pampering him. This is the typical pattern of all our relationships. We are unable to sustain the intensity of emotion.

When we visit a temple, we should go with the feeling, “I am entering my parent’s house”. When we do this, God takes a step towards us. If we invite Him home, He is ready to accompany us. But we never think of doing this. We simply prostrate, receive the Prasada (consecrated items) and return home. Invite God to your house. Take Him with you wherever you go. Then He is always with you.

I always ask the Divine Mother to come with me everywhere. She is ever with me. When I come to your house for a Satsangh, She comes with me. Unlike human beings, God can exist everywhere at all times. So I leave Her in your house and also take Her back with me!"
