Guru Nanak college office bearers take oath at investiture ceremony

The Students’ Council and Investiture ceremony of Guru Nanak College for the year 2013-14 was held on Thursday in the seminar hall.

The Students’ Council and Investiture ceremony of Guru Nanak College for the year 2013-14 was held on Thursday in the seminar hall.

The function was graced by Principal Dr M Selvaraj and the chief guest was Dr R Santhi, Principal, Tagore College of Arts & Science and Syndicate Member, University of Madras.

The programme started with seeking the blessings of Guru Nanak, followed by the welcome address by Dr S Manikandan, vice president of the students’ council. The chief guest congratulated the new office bearers in her speech. She highlighted the role of the students’ council and spoke of how the relationship of the council with the management, principal and the students should be.

Dr T K Avvaikothai, staff advisor, women students’ forum, introduced the office bearers of the council for the year. The chief guest presented the office bearers and class representatives with badges in the presence of their proud parents and teachers.

The office bearers and class representatives took the oath, which was read out by Dr L R S Kalanidhi, staff advisor, Fine Arts Association.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Abhirami Vasudevan, executive member of the students’ council, who thanked everyone for making the event a successful one.

The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
