Amrita on the road to recovery: Doctors

Doctors treating 35-year-old Amrita (name changed), who was allegedly kept in confinement by her own family for four years, said her condition is improving. They, however, do not want to record her statement or discuss the reasons that led to such a situation till she completely recovers.

Amrita is now being treated at the National Institute of  Mental Health And Neurological Science.

Dr Satish Chandra, Director, NIMHANS, said, She is talking to our staff without any fear and she is stable in terms of her mental condition. “We are administering medicines to treat her malnourishment. A team of orthopaedic surgeons visited her on Saturday. Soon, her limb movement will be addressed,” he said.
