Merchant hacked to death

A 60-year-old tender coconut merchant was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at A Narayanapura near K R Puram on Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as Muniswamy.

The police said that the incident took place around 10 pm when Muniawamy was on his way on a two-wheeler and the assailants slit his throat and fled the scene. The incident came to light around 1 am when some passersby noticed his body at Lowry School compound and informed the police. The reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained.

1 Killed in Accident

A 23-year-old medical representative was killed on the spot and his brother sustained injuries, when a speeding container rammed into their two-wheeler in Varthur on Saturday night.

The deceased is Shyam Sundar and the injured is  Rama Rathnam.

The police said that the incident took place around 11 pm when they were returning home. A speeding container rammed into their two-wheeler. Sundar, who was riding the bike was killed on the spot, while Rathnam was rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. The police have arrested Praveen, the container’s  driver.
