BDA land sale: Charge against CM

CM Siddaramaiah, who also holds the BDA portfolio, is accused of allowing the sale of a prime land in Banashankari 5th Stage at rates at least 800 times less than the current market value on June 4.

RTI activist B M Shivakumar alleged that the land, worth more than `100 crore was sold at  `8,60,675 to the BDA’s Employees Welfare Association.

The Chief Minister should be held morally responsible for this. “This is the biggest scam since the BJP government was defeated,” he charged.

The claim, however, was denied by BDA officials who stated that the sale of the land was predecided and was simply being executed now.

Speaking to Express, the officials claimed that land, totalling 45 acres was to be allotted to the association as far back as 2006 and that 41 acres of land had already been sold since 2007.

The association president could not be reached for a comment.
