A five-year-old girl drowned in a water container at her house in Doddabele near Nelamangala on Tuesday evening. The deceased Vidya was the daughter of Mudduraj, a native of Andra Pradesh.
Police said the incident took place around 6 pm when Vidya went to the bathroom to fetch water while her mother was busy with daily chores. Vidya was trying to fetch water from the container, standing on a stool, when she fell in head first and drowned. When the girl did not come out even after a while, her anxious mother went into the bathroom and found her inside the container.
Vidya was immediately taken to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, police said.
